COOEC starts USD 4 bln Bul Hanine offshore project

China National Offshore Oil Engineering Co. (COOEC) has broken ground on the Bul Hanine EPIC project in Qatar, its largest international offshore project, with a total contract value of USD 4 bln, according to news reports.

Developed by QatarEnergy in the Bul Hanine oilfield, the project involves more than 60 offshore oil and gas facilities, 40 subsea pipelines and cables, as well as modifications to existing platforms and removal of obsolete facilities.

The project, covering engineering, procurement, fabrication, transportation, offshore installation and commissioning, is expected to require more than 130,000 tons of steel, the report added.
