DRI exports rise in first month of current fiscal year

Iran exported 105,000 tons of sponge iron, or DRI, worth USD 25 mln during the first month of the current fiscal year (March 21-April 21, 2025), marking a 33pct increase in volume and a 22pct rise in value, both on YoY basis, according to the Iranian Steel Producers Association (ISPA).

In the same period last year, the country’s sponge iron exports stood at 79,000 tons.

Production of sponge iron in Iran rose 7pct YoY in the first month of the current fiscal year to 4.075 mln tons.
