Finished steel imports jump in June

Pakistan imported 389,370 tons of finished steel products in June 2026, more than doubling from 187,456 tons in the corresponding month last year, according to data from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

Market insiders attributed the sharp YoY increase partly to a low base in June 2025, as well as the arrival of delayed cargoes from China that had been postponed in previous months.

Imports also increased 66pct compared with May 2026.

During the first six months of 2026, Pakistan’s finished steel imports reached approximately 2.07 mln tons, up 12pct YoY.
