Govt unveils USD 2.8 bln airport Casablanca expansion plan

Morocco has launched a USD 2.8 bln investment program under its “Airports 2030” vision, aiming to more than double passenger capacity to 80 mln by 2030, Transport Minister Abdessamad Kayouh announced.

A key part of the plan is a new international airport in Casablanca, to be built on 800 hectares next to the current Mohammed V Airport. Designed to handle 40 mln passengers, the new facility will support long-haul flights and be linked to Morocco’s high-speed rail network. The expansion aligns with plans to double Royal Air Maroc’s fleet from 50 to 100 aircraft by 2030.
